Pico Projector Reviews: Optoma PK320 iPhone Projector

Optoma is a famous company when it comes to manufacturing projectors compatible with every device. They are not far behind in producing quality iPhone projector. In fact, Optoma already has some Pico Projectors as they are alternatively called, in the lineup. Optoma PK 320 is a Pico Projector designed for those who want their presentations to be done quickly and in efficient manner and don't really need the high Lumen count like others. Here goes my review for this Micro Projector.

PK320 Pico Projector From Optoma

Notable Features of Optoma PK320 Pico Projector

This small sized projector comes handy as a lightweight, sleek looking machine which gives you 854X480 native resolution. This makes this the perfect projector for watching movies on widescreen and even when you need an efficient one to deliver your 4:3 presentations.

The reason this Pico Projector from Optoma is great because it has a software installed within for reading your Excel sheets, word files or PowerPoint Slides nicely. It has internal memory and USB stick support where you can store your data comfortably. So, carrying a PC around is not necessary when you have this iPhone Projector with you.

The biggest challenge for any micro projector is to maintain power without electricity and I believe the Optoma PK320 performs well in the department running for 45 minutes in Standard and for 90 minutes in the Eco Mode. The Lumen count varies when you use the battery. The Pico Projector will only give you 50 and 20 Lumens depending upon which mode you are using it in. But to attain full Lumen count, you will have to power it to an AC source or use the additional battery with the iPhone Projector for two hours of nonstop use. This Pico Projector is However, it is optional. There are larger batteries available which can be bought separately.

Extra Features of the Pico Projector

The machine uses DLP technology. The product life of the mini sized projector is over 20,000 hours. So, you won't have to worry about a thing when using this. But as a matter of maintaining caution, you might think of Vacuuming the air vents to keep it fresh. The contrast ratio of this Pico Projector is 1000:1. This affordable Micro Projector is compatible with your iPhones and comes with HDMI Cable, AV Cable, internal Memory of 2GB (which is extendable if you use a Memory chip), VGA cable or more. It has a dynamic remote which can be used to perform different functions with the help of same buttons depending upon the modes of this Pico Projector.

Optoma PK320 Has Some Drawbacks Being 100 Lumen Pico Projector

There are limitations of the Pico Projector as well. This Micro Projector has an identical control panel as the remote control but it can be jostling for you if you push the buttons of the remote.

There are different adapters provided with the package and they are no doubts useful. But for connecting your iPod, iPhone and other apple devices you will need to purchase additional adapters which need to be bought separately with considerable price. Not only that, Mini HDMI to HDMI adapter, USB ports and few other accessories of the Pico Projector also need to be bought.

Another drawback for this small sized Optoma PK320 projector is that it has a fixed ratio of throwing images. The ratio is 1.6:1. If you want to get clear image when you project images at 60-inch height, you will have to keep the projector 12 feet away from the screen. If the space is not available, then you will have to live with either small size or large size images

The image focus can be soft for the Optoma PK320 Pico Projector. The loose ends of this machine begins to show when you go over the 40-inch mark for the images.

For some, the internal one watt speaker may not sound too satisfying and they might opt to buy an external amplifier for this Micro Projector.

There are many Pico Projectors in the market when we consider the 100 Lumen category. But Optoma PK320 iPhone Projector comes with digital input facility and also offers you 100 Lumens. The images are reasonably good and 16:9 aspect ratio will give you great experience when watching movies on big screen from this Mini Projector. But using this projector can be tricky when doing presentations as data images may become a bit fuzzy.
